About the position

As a Senior Manager of Data Center Operations at JLL, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems within our data centers. This includes overseeing critical systems such as fire/life safety, mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, controls), electrical (lighting, UPS, PDU, generators, switchgear), cabling (data and voice, broadband), and digital systems (fire alarm, duress, card access, radionics, CCTV). You will utilize both internal staff and external vendors to ensure that all systems are functioning optimally and that any issues are addressed promptly. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and approving work efforts related to critical environments, ensuring that all maintenance objectives are documented and incorporated into a comprehensive plan that includes preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance procedures. You will also identify safety hazards within the building and implement a robust safety training program to ensure a safe working environment for all staff and occupants. Your responsibilities will extend to ensuring compliance with all regulatory laws and guidelines related to the operation of the building's infrastructure. You will develop a Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Operational Expenditure (OPEX) plan that includes planning for infrastructure upgrades, maintenance, repairs, and safety equipment. Additionally, you will provide technical input and support for facility projects and modifications, maintain all infrastructure documentation, and oversee contractor activities within the building. As a leader, you will manage the critical environments team, focusing on hiring, training, and personal development. You will prepare and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track team performance and ensure that all team members are well-informed about the building's critical functions. Your role will also involve executing staff succession and growth plans, ensuring that each direct report has actionable and measurable career development plans.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems including fire/life safety, mechanical, electrical, cabling, lighting, and digital systems.
  • Develop, review, and approve Critical Environment work efforts and Mission Critical Statements for assigned facilities.
  • Manage the critical environments team including hiring, training, and personal development.
  • Identify maintenance objectives and incorporate them into a documented maintenance plan.
  • Identify safety hazards and implement a safety training program.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory laws and guidelines related to building operations.
  • Develop a CAPEX and OPEX plan for infrastructure upgrades and maintenance.
  • Provide technical input and support for facility projects and modifications.
  • Maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation for the building.
  • Oversee contractor activities within the building.
  • Prepare and report on CPIs to track team performance.
  • Ensure Data Center Work Rules are understood by all staff and contractors.
  • Provide overall facility services in accordance with standard processes and procedures.
  • Manage overall team management, staff development, and planning.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years of trade schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration and/or HVAC.
  • 7+ years of experience in data center operations, maintenance, and engineering supporting critical facilities operations.
  • Strong working technical knowledge of critical data center systems, including HVAC and emergency power systems.
  • Ability to solve problems and respond to sensitive issues effectively.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications and software such as MS Office.
  • Experience with CMMS, BMS, EPMS required.
  • Strong understanding and implementation experience in OSHA safety programs.
  • Prior experience in development of critical environment programs and procedures.
  • On-Call and/or 24/7 availability as needed.
