About the position

At Sony, exponential data growth and proliferation of data sources offer opportunities for unprecedented insights that can drive innovation, enhance decision making, and unlock new revenue streams. Enabling Sony to unlock such potential through data requires effective democratization of data and disciplined governance. As such, the Data Enablement group, which sits within Sony's Digital Transformation (DX) division, is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead our efforts in ensuring effective stewardship of data assets within our organization. This pivotal role will encompass key facets of data governance and democratization, with emphasis in data privacy compliance and discoverability of data through data cataloging. In this role, you will play a critical part in instilling effective processes and accountability to enforce data governance policies. This includes deeply understanding data policies (with a strong emphasis on privacy, but also business and security policies), implementing effective processes to ensure compliance, and measuring such processes for continuous improvements. You will also collaborate with Product Management and Technology teams to develop a comprehensive data catalog that enables effective discovery of data assets available to the organization. This involves identifying and documenting data sources, managing metadata, and developing a global support framework to assist Sony data users with data discovery. As a Senior Manager, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Business, Product, Technology, and Analytics teams, to understand their data needs and requirements. By fostering collaboration and communication, you will effectively triage data activities to ensure compliance, continuously refine processes to eliminate inefficiencies, and understand the effectiveness of data utilization. Additionally, you will manage direct reports, instill structure and good project hygiene, develop clear roles and responsibilities, navigate ambiguity into actionable steps, and establish alignment in processes where clarity is needed. You will set a high bar in communication, transparency, and continuous improvements.
