About the position

The Senior Manager, Data Enablement at Sony Corporation of America is responsible for leading the Data Enablement group within the Digital Transformation division. This role focuses on effective stewardship of data assets, emphasizing data governance, privacy compliance, and the discoverability of data through cataloging. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and ensure compliance while fostering a culture of continuous improvement in data utilization.

Responsibilities

  • Instill effective processes and accountability to enforce data governance policies.
  • Implement processes to ensure compliance with data policies, particularly in privacy, business, and security.
  • Develop a comprehensive data catalog for effective discovery of data assets.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Technology teams to identify and document data sources and manage metadata.
  • Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and refine processes for efficiency.
  • Manage direct reports, instill structure, and develop clear roles and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in business, information systems, or related fields; Master's degree is a plus.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in the data field, particularly in data governance, data privacy, data project management, or metadata management.
  • 3+ years in management of direct reports.
  • Strong understanding of relational database and ETL concepts.
  • Skilled in developing execution paths from high-level ideas.
  • IAPP/CIPP certification is highly desired.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Japanese language fluency is a big plus.

  • Experience in data cataloging and metadata management.
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance standards.
