About the position

As a Senior Manager of Db2 Database Administration at Global Payments, you will be responsible for overseeing the administration of computerized databases, ensuring their security and performance within a high availability infrastructure. Your role will involve managing the development and implementation of enterprise databases, while also researching and recommending tools for database performance and analysis. You will lead a team, assigning projects and directing their activities, while also preparing performance reports and advising team members on administrative policies and technical issues. Your strategic input will be crucial as you project long-range requirements for database administration in collaboration with other managers in the information systems and business functions. Additionally, you will provide escalation support for database-related issues presented by users and clients. In this role, you will provide tactical direction and support the development of strategic initiatives for a complex, globally dispersed multi-data center infrastructure. You will lead efforts in emerging technologies, proactive software maintenance, and process improvements to ensure optimal availability and performance. Your responsibilities will also include managing infrastructure change management procedures, ensuring that changes are executed without service interruptions, and continually improving the change process as technology evolves. You will coordinate with internal business partners to understand their needs and provide a world-class infrastructure, while also leading technical engagements with clients to ensure successful service integration. You will participate in defining the technology vision and strategy, guiding the architecture roadmap for platforms and systems. Monitoring industry trends and understanding customer objectives will be key to mapping technology solutions that meet market needs. You will also lead Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance efforts, ensuring that systems adhere to regulatory standards and implementing security measures to protect customer data. Your leadership will extend to developing disaster recovery and business continuity solutions, evaluating new technologies, and managing vendor relationships to align with business objectives. Overall, your role will be pivotal in driving the success of database administration and infrastructure management at Global Payments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage activities related to the administration of computerized databases.
  • Monitor and enhance the security and performance of the database operating environment.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of enterprise databases within a high availability infrastructure.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend database performance and analysis tools.
  • Assign team members to various projects and direct their activities.
  • Review and evaluate work and prepare performance reports.
  • Advise and confer with team members on administrative policies, technical problems, and priorities.
  • Project long-range requirements for database administration in conjunction with other managers.
  • Prepare activity and progress reports regarding the database management section.
  • Provide ultimate escalation support for database issues presented by users and clients.
  • Lead the direction of emerging technologies and process improvements to ensure availability and performance.
  • Manage infrastructure change management procedures for a global mainframe environment.
  • Validate that changes are executed without interruptions of service.
  • Lead teams to guide the issue resolution process and correct production issues.
  • Coordinate with internal business partners to understand business needs and provide infrastructure solutions.
  • Participate in defining technology vision and strategy and provide guidance on architecture roadmap.
  • Lead PCI compliance efforts for enterprise applications and validate systems against regulatory standards.
  • Develop disaster recovery and business continuity solutions to support critical business services.
  • Lead vendor management functions for major software providers.
  • Collaborate with leaders in other functional areas to define and implement process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Typically a minimum of 8 years of related professional experience.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a supervisory position.
