About the position

The Senior Manager, DevSecOps - Cloud/AWS at SiriusXM is responsible for overseeing the DevOps and AWS teams, managing the platform infrastructure for both physical and virtual servers. This role focuses on transitioning from legacy on-prem systems to a predominantly AWS-based architecture, ensuring the availability, security compliance, and restoration of the company's infrastructure. The Senior Manager collaborates with senior leadership to enhance service quality and productivity, while also leading a team of 12-15 individuals in various technical and managerial capacities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the DevOps and AWS teams, administering the platform infrastructure for physical and virtual servers.
  • Oversee the transition from legacy on-prem to AWS.
  • Ensure availability, redundancy, security compliance, and restoration of AWS/platform infrastructure.
  • Support infrastructure within a DevOps framework both on-prem and in the cloud.
  • Lead a team that maintains Unix, Linux, Windows, storage, virtualization platforms, and AWS Cloud-based assets.
  • Responsible for contract negotiations, invoice processing, and yearly maintenance renewals.
  • Function as an Incident Manager responsible for responding to outages or impairments.
  • Design and implement projects for compliance or continuous improvement, including maintenance scheduling and resource migration.
  • Ensure all systems are compliant with security patching per company policy.
  • Lead design and implementation projects for monitoring and event management systems.
  • Produce business-relevant reporting about the quality/performance of the platform.
  • Coordinate all customer requests and problem reports to closure with internal business units.
  • Develop and roll out IT processes and methodology.
  • Create and support both external and internal customer-focused SLAs.
  • Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and develop staff in all areas of responsibility.
  • Design and maintain Disaster Recovery plans.
  • Provide strong leadership and technical skills to manage technical staff and oversee projects.
  • Create an efficient work environment conducive to teamwork and collaboration.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive responsibility managing AWS and directing a highly skilled engineering team.
  • 3+ years experience managing a diverse group of System Engineers (SAN, VM, Backup, Systems Administrators, DevOps).
  • Experience with Cloud Migration projects.
  • Understanding of AWS services, database architectures, application servers, and security across multiple platforms.
  • Solid understanding of cloud architecture, systems engineering, and networking concepts, with project management skills.
  • Experience with AWS Services, including RDS, S3, ECS, Lambdas, etc.
  • Familiarity with Containers including Docker & Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL Databases and Serverless technologies.
  • Experience with Unix, Linux, and Windows Server Operating Systems.
  • Experience with Virtualization and Storage Area Network Administration.
  • Experience in resource management and reporting, including expense and capital budgets.

Nice-to-haves

  • Formal project management training is a plus.
  • Experience with ITIL or other established Information Technology methodologies.
