About the position

As a Senior Manager of Digital Product Management at American Express, you will play a crucial role in the Global Analytics, Data & Marketing team, which is dedicated to enhancing the merchant experience through data-driven insights and solutions. This position is hybrid, allowing for a blend of in-office and remote work, and is focused on creating and maintaining merchant-focused data solutions that power analytical and reporting capabilities to support enterprise strategy. You will report directly to the Director of Merchant Data & Analytic Platforms and will be responsible for growing and enhancing the globalized standard data solution, ensuring consistency, governance, and ease of use for downstream products across the Merchant business. In this role, you will engage with global stakeholders to understand their strategic business objectives and needs related to data and insights. You will collaborate closely with various partners across Marketing, Client Management, Merchant Acquisition, Pricing, Analytics, and Technologies to identify opportunities for advancing the data product experience. Your responsibilities will include translating stakeholder requests into actionable insights, innovating new functionalities, and overseeing the development lifecycle from concept to creation. You will also lead end-to-end cross-functional delivery of capabilities, ensuring they are implemented effectively and in a manner that optimizes future flexibility, cost controls, and customer satisfaction. Your expertise will be essential in linking data dependencies from the source of record to a suite of products, enabling the rapid creation of valuable insights that drive business success. You will synthesize learning and input from stakeholders to drive new insights products, features, and functions, ensuring consistent and accurate development expectations. Additionally, you will support leadership in developing recommendations for the long-term product strategy, incorporating both business and technical needs.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain merchant-focused data solutions to power analytical and reporting capabilities.
  • Grow and enhance the globalized standard data solution for consistency and governance.
  • Engage with global stakeholders to understand their strategic business objectives and needs.
  • Collaborate with partners across Marketing, Client Management, Merchant Acquisition, Pricing, Analytics, and Technologies.
  • Translate stakeholder requests into actionable insights and innovate new functionalities.
  • Oversee the development lifecycle from concept to creation.
  • Lead end-to-end cross-functional delivery of capabilities, ensuring effective implementation.
  • Synthesize learning and input from stakeholders to drive new insights products and features.
  • Support leadership in developing recommendations for long-term product strategy.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of project/product management experience with data experience and merchant business knowledge preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the cornerstone environment including Data Governance and Data Quality Framework.
  • Leadership experience in managing large scale, multi-platform projects with product interdependencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and lead through changing and conflicting priorities.
  • Self-starter who is highly comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Knowledge of SQL / Hive / data querying and scripting techniques.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Advanced degree preferred.
