About the position

As a Senior Manager in Digital Product Operations at American Express, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic program management support for critical initiatives across the Enterprise Data Sharing Solutions (EDSS) ecosystem. This position requires collaboration with internal product teams and cross-business stakeholders, including Technology, Compliance, Privacy, and Operational Excellence, to deliver key regulatory and growth-related initiatives. You will be responsible for managing stakeholder relationships and partnering with various lines of business and product teams to create new products, capabilities, and experiences. Your efforts will focus on the coordinated delivery of end-to-end solutions and process enhancements, executing critical near-term goals while designing a new way of working. In this role, you will partner with teams to design and maintain robust portfolio-level roadmaps, ensuring timely product delivery through proper sequencing and coordination. You will provide capacity and utilization reporting, along with executive-level communications and presentations that summarize complex ideas and recommendations. Monitoring and evaluating program performance through regular reporting will be essential, as will managing day-to-day scale-up activities and proactively identifying risks. You will also collaborate closely with EDDS Product teams to accelerate unified planning and roadmap creation, preparing executive-level materials and communications for various audiences. Your ability to influence others, often without direct authority, will be crucial as you support change management and project management activities on strategic regulatory initiatives. This role demands a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in project/program management, particularly in high-priority, large-scale strategic initiatives within the digital space.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with teams to design and maintain robust portfolio-level roadmaps through proper sequencing and coordination and resolution of blockers/dependencies to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Provide capacity & utilization reporting, executive-level communications & presentations across ongoing priorities while flagging key decisions and issues.
  • Monitor and evaluate the program's performance through regular program reporting, analyzing progress and synthesizing key strategic insights fit for executive-level audience.
  • Work closely within and across business units to manage day-to-day scale-up activities, tracking overall progress, timeline management, and proactively identifying risks and escalating if necessary.
  • Collaborate and forge strong relationships with EDDS Product teams to accelerate unified planning, discovery, roadmap creation and progression of critical milestones.
  • Prepare executive-level materials and communications for a variety of audiences and forums on behalf of the VP's office.
  • Support with change management and project management activities on an array of strategic and critical regulatory initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in project/program management working on high-priority, large scale strategic initiatives in the digital space.
  • Experience in internal consulting/management consulting delivering transformational change, projects within digital/technology and change management disciplines a plus.
  • Solid business acumen and problem-solving skills with high capacity for strategic/end-to-end planning and the ability to strategically identify implications and recommendations.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with ability to manage and prioritize multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies and working knowledge of product development life cycle.
  • Demonstrated track record of independently driving end-to-end results across priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and executing flawlessly.
  • Experience designing governance structures, effective operating models, and new processes for programs and strategic initiatives including process maps and documentation of risks and controls.
  • Proficient in developing high-quality presentations and communication materials for an executive audience is a must with a strong attention to detail.
  • A self-starter with an ability to navigate ambiguity, form solutions out of white space, and easily adapt to a constantly evolving environment while continuing to make progress towards goals.
  • Interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to build stakeholder relationships and work with cross-functional partners at all levels with strong executive presence.
  • Has strong communication skills [written and verbal] with the ability to understand diverse perspectives and lead them towards a unified approach through well-defined business requirements.
  • Experience working with C-suite/executive-level leadership.
  • Prior exposure to FinTech and the payment/banking industry.
  • Extensive expertise in Sharepoint, Confluence, and Microsoft suite.
  • Bachelor's degree, MBA a plus.
