Senior Manager, Engineering - AI/Machine Learning

About the position

As a Senior Engineering Manager at Conviva, you will lead a team of talented data scientists and machine learning engineers and guide them in developing and implementing machine learning models and MLOps solutions. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment where you'll work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize the streaming experience for our customers and their viewers. Leveraging cutting-edge data science techniques, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and delivering impactful solutions in the rapidly evolving streaming media industry.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Product team to develop and refine the vision for innovative machine learning products.
• Communicate and align internal stakeholders with the machine learning product vision, building consensus and securing support for strategic initiatives.
• Lead engineering teams in executing the product roadmap, ensuring that machine learning solutions meet performance criteria and deliver substantial business value.
• Own the machine learning technology roadmap, including planning, execution, and updates, to keep it aligned with industry trends and business objectives.
• Promote the machine learning team's achievements within the company to enhance internal recognition and support, and advocate for the team's innovations in external forums.
• Attract and hire machine learning talent across the entire lifecycle, from data engineering to model deployment.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of how customers interact with and benefit from machine learning-enhanced products. Work closely with product managers to identify and define new use cases where machine learning can address complex business challenges.

Requirements

• Mastery of the entire machine learning lifecycle, from initial concept through to production deployment.
• Ability to assess and evaluate machine learning solutions using a combination of machine learning, business, and operational metrics.
• Proven experience in leading and managing a team of ML engineers and data scientists, driving their professional growth and delivering impactful projects within tight deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for effective interaction and documentation.
• Proven ability to secure stakeholder buy-in and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Capability to co-develop product features and roadmaps in partnership with product managers.
• In-depth practical and theoretical knowledge of machine learning and deep learning principles, including the deployment and ongoing enhancement of ML products.
• Familiarity with Python and commonly used ML frameworks.
• Experience in guiding and mentoring machine learning engineers to foster their growth and development.
• Skills in managing complex projects and delivering them efficiently and effectively.
• BS/MS or PhD in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related discipline.
