About The Position

The Senior Manager of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) at Ryder System is responsible for overseeing EHS programs across mobile maintenance operations for commercial motor vehicles throughout the United States. This role involves leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive safety, health, and environmental programs that protect employees, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance the company's competitive edge. The position requires strategic direction in fostering a safety culture and supporting operational goals while managing a team of EHS Analysts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Science, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience managing EHS programs in mobile maintenance, transportation, or a related industry.
  • Certifications preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or other recognized EHS certifications.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, DOT, and environmental regulations with a proven track record of managing compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop EHS staff.
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage compliance programs and safety management systems for mobile maintenance services.
  • Conduct hazard analysis and site evaluations to identify potential risks and develop proactive solutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies for inspections and compliance issues.
  • Provide oversight and guidance on safety processes to maintain a competitive advantage and reduce safety-related losses.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on safety protocols and hazardous material handling.
  • Lead and supervise EHS Analysts, providing mentorship and professional development.
  • Track key performance metrics related to safety, health, and environmental compliance and report to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align EHS initiatives with business objectives.
  • Drive the development and implementation of innovative safety solutions.
