About the position

The Senior Manager, Field Applications (Bio Production) at Thermo Fisher Scientific is responsible for leading a regional Field Applications team in the Americas. This role involves providing technical expertise to customers, managing and training the Field Application Scientists (FAS), and ensuring alignment with commercial priorities. The position requires a strong focus on customer relationship management, team coordination, and performance evaluation, with a significant portion of time spent in the field to foster customer relationships and drive service excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the management of regional key accounts and critical issues as part of the Service and Support leadership team.
  • Assist the FAS team in planning and organizing activities to support commercial sales and customers effectively.
  • Implement and drive training plans and performance improvement initiatives for the field applications team.
  • Develop and maintain metrics to highlight performance and identify gaps within the field application team.
  • Evaluate employee performance, provide ongoing feedback, and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Develop, share, and implement the long-term vision and strategy for the Field Applications Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Life Science, Business, Marketing, or a related field; Advanced Degree in Business or Science preferred.
  • 7+ years of effective sales representative experience managing accounts, sales, and client relationships.
  • 3+ years of experience leading a team preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting sales strategies and coaching sales representatives.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets, managing a territory with revenue of $100M or more.
  • Strong analytical skills for analyzing market trends and competitor activities.
  • Experience in business planning, forecasting, and budgeting resources.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the biotechnology or life sciences industry.
  • Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) tools.
