About the position

We are seeking a Senior Finance Manager to join our Card team at Capital One. This position will manage a team to provide finance oversight for the total company outlook and actuals, present monthly and quarterly financial results to senior leadership, and play a critical role during the earnings and board process. The Senior Finance Manager will help develop the annual budget and set expense targets, manage external guidance, and oversee and approve investment analysis and decisions. In addition to these core responsibilities, the role requires leading and supporting ad hoc projects across various stakeholders, including FP&A, Investor Relations, Strategy, and Corporate Development. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and influencing skills to effectively articulate outcomes of analysis and relevant insights. The Senior Finance Manager will partner with business leadership to assess the financial implications of ongoing efforts to grow the organization and develop presentations to communicate business and analysis results to senior leadership audiences. General responsibilities include financial and business performance reporting and variance analysis, ensuring forecasting accuracy and cost management, and proactively identifying and resolving financial issues related to operating expenses. Additionally, the role involves managing and developing associates within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Present monthly and quarterly financial results to senior leadership.
  • Play a critical role during the earnings and board process.
  • Help develop the annual budget and set expense targets.
  • Manage external guidance and oversee investment analysis and decisions.
  • Lead and support ad hoc projects across various stakeholders including FP&A, Investor Relations, Strategy, and Corporate Development.
  • Articulate outcomes of analysis and relevant insights to stakeholders.
  • Partner with business leadership to assess financial implications of growth efforts.
  • Develop presentations to communicate business and analysis results to senior leadership audiences.
  • Ensure financial management of operating expenses and proactively identify and resolve financial issues.
  • Manage and develop associates within the finance team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience in financial analysis.
  • At least 7 years of experience with financial modeling.
  • At least 1 year of people management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master's Degree in Finance.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • 1+ year of experience in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • 2+ years of people management experience.
  • 1+ year of people management experience managing both direct and indirect reports.
