About the position

The Senior Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) at Verizon is responsible for leading the FP&A organization, focusing on streamlining processes, improving systems, and providing strategic support to drive business growth. This role involves developing and communicating financial planning, forecasting, and reporting, while serving as a business partner to evaluate business results and provide insights. The position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to assess financial decisions, develop profitability models, and present recommendations to leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development and communication of planning and forecasting, financial reporting, operational analysis, and executive reviews.
  • Evaluate business results and provide strategic guidance and insights during the analysis process.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on complex business performance issues and execute action plans.
  • Make decisions and recommendations to ensure quality and delivery of products and services.
  • Interpret and evaluate monthly analyses of business trends, including budget variance and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Partner with the business to develop costing/profitability models and reports.
  • Assess the impact of strategic financial decisions and present recommendations to leadership.
  • Design, develop, and implement methods and strategies to improve processes.
  • Assess customer/product profitability and drive profit optimization.
  • Develop and assess business cases for pricing on investment decisions.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in Essbase, Smart View, Hyperion Planning, or Hyperion Strategic Finance.

Nice-to-haves

  • A Master's in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • Experience in the technology and/or telecommunications industry.
  • A professional certification (e.g. CPA, CMA).
  • A high degree of analytical capability with the ability to structure business cases around a strategic vision.
  • Strong strategic skills to identify and assess key points, implications, and recommendations.
  • Advanced understanding of corporate financial planning, reporting & analysis, and costing/profitability methodologies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of common business and cost drivers, financial statement analysis, and deep-dive analysis.
  • Knowledge of FASB and SEC requirements, GAAP, tax reporting, and accounting practices.
  • Experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis, and project management.
