About the position

The Senior Manager - Fintech Strategy and Program Management at American Express plays a crucial role in evolving and implementing the Finance Technology strategy while overseeing the Finance Modernization effort. This position is responsible for driving delivery of pan-Finance Technology projects, influencing product and platform roadmaps, and managing significant technology initiatives that impact the Finance organization. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of key priorities and contribute to the modernization of technology platforms supporting Finance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Engage Product Owners and Tech Leads to drive ongoing technology investment processes as outlined in the FinTech Playbook.
  • Build a comprehensive understanding of the multi-year Finance Modernization initiative and commitments.
  • Focus on emerging Capital Reporting, Basel III Endgame, and SCCL reporting requirements under Project Fast Forward.
  • Work with data-sourcing teams to conduct data profiling and mapping activities and assist in creating detailed data sourcing plans.
  • Track progress against plans, milestones, and elevate delivery risks while publishing status updates for stakeholders and the Program Office.
  • Ensure stakeholder requirements are documented and Technology story points are groomed for timely Agile delivery.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders for extensive integration and end-user testing activities.
  • Serve as a liaison between Product Owners and Technology leads to maintain roadmaps and milestone plans.
  • Track, report, and communicate progress against plans, milestones, and delivery risks.
  • Assist Finance Modernization program leads in developing communications on objectives, timelines, progress, and risks to Finance leaders.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of cumulative Finance business/process and/or product management experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business or Analytics preferred.
  • Knowledge of Finance systems, operational processes, and interdependencies is highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Agile development principles and practices is advantageous.
  • Project/program management experience supporting large, complex initiatives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, synthesizing information into clear communications.
  • Strong relationship management skills and experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently, be flexible, and drive results.
