About the position

The Senior Manager for Global Manufacturing Engineering will serve as a global leader in cable manufacturing engineering, providing technical expertise and support across various production processes. This role is crucial for driving standards, guiding project teams, and supporting global operations to achieve site and regional goals. The position emphasizes collaboration, continuous improvement, and the application of engineering principles to enhance manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support global factories as a technical leader in all aspects of cable process manufacturing, including drawing, twinning, bunching, coloring, ribboning, stranding, and extrusion.
  • Lead collaborative discussions between leadership and key stakeholders to determine capabilities and goals.
  • Develop and deliver cost savings to the business and draft capital appropriation requests to support project needs.
  • Develop manufacturing technology roadmaps and execute actions as appropriate.
  • Drive consistent manufacturing processes across internal and external factories, including best safety practices.
  • Champion Lean methodologies to drive continuous improvement (CI).
  • Own relationships with original equipment manufacturers (OEM).
  • Support the product transfer process (PTP) as a sponsor or technical lead depending on the project need.
  • Manage manufacturing process assets globally.
  • Support sensitive projects such as plant/product exodus and acquisitions of new products/businesses.
  • Leverage the DMAIC tool kit as needed for challenges.
  • Provide technical sustaining support throughout the life of the product.
  • Mentor and teach senior-level engineers and managers.
  • Create and lead a culture of continuous learning and experimentation while prioritizing safety.
  • Provide guidance and complex subject matter training in cable process extrusion, tooling design, and cable manufacturing.
  • Apply cable standards such as IEC, ICEA, and GR documents when creating or revising cable products and processes.
  • Directly manage a team or teams of technical resources.

Requirements

  • Fifteen or more years of experience in cable manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent four years of experience.
  • Experience in directly supervising technical resources and teams.
  • Technical knowledge of fiber, coax, and copper cable products & processes, including product specifications & testing.
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods and process capability, ability to apply statistical tools - Minitab, cpk, GR&R, DOE.
  • Lean manufacturing practices (Kanban, Poke-Yoke, JIT, Value Stream Mapping).
  • Ability to travel internationally for one to four weeks each quarter, typically in consecutive weeks.
