They will ensure that the Executive Director is informed of recommended actions and that response interventions are executed effectively. The Senior Manager will also work closely with the Executive Director and site leadership to manage the implementation, review, and modification of strategic plans, ensuring that progress is met and remains aligned with staff capacity, financial resources, and stakeholder support. Additionally, the Senior Manager will oversee critical staff position searches, hiring, and onboarding processes, while also managing key strategic relationships with stakeholders such as public officials and business leaders. They will be responsible for managing meetings and materials for the Advisory Board, assisting committees with special projects, and conducting research and data analysis to support decision-making. The role also includes budget development and financial monitoring, ensuring that all departments are forecasting below budget and identifying cost savings and revenue generation opportunities. Overall, the Senior Manager for People and Operations is a vital position that supports the operational and strategic goals of City Year Buffalo, fostering a collaborative and effective work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the activities of the Executive Office and administrative operations of City Year Buffalo.
  • Assist the Executive Director with strategic priorities and monitor tasks related to execution and implementation of the agenda.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to provide internal and external reporting on operating goals.
  • Manage the implementation, review, and modification of City Year Buffalo's strategic plans.
  • Support critical staff position searches, hiring, and onboarding processes.
  • Manage meetings and materials for the Advisory Board and assist committees with special projects.
  • Conduct research, collect and analyze data, and prepare presentations for stakeholders.
  • Monitor site's financial progress and lead annual budget development process.
  • Provide training and support to department finance leaders.
  • Foster productive relationships internally and externally on behalf of the Executive Director.

Requirements

  • College degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience successfully leading cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead directors and managers in creating and implementing multi-faceted operating plans and budgets.
  • Experience developing new programmatic and financial partnerships with community-based organizations, corporations, and civic leaders.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, along with a high level of diplomacy and problem-solving ability.
  • Proven success in developing collaborative relationships and providing successful advice and counsel to senior leaders.
  • Experience conducting conflict resolution, coaching, and group facilitation exercises.
  • Leadership, influencing, and negotiation skills are a must.
