About the position

The Senior Manager, Futures, Project & Change Management at Holt Renfrew plays a pivotal role in driving the organization’s Future agenda, ensuring that strategic initiatives are efficiently delivered and that the organization is well-prepared to embrace future-focused changes. This position is integral to the execution of Retail Store strategic initiatives and capital investments, requiring a high level of collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders. The Senior Manager will provide comprehensive project management services, overseeing projects from ideation through to implementation and post-project performance tracking. This role demands a strong focus on change management to facilitate the adoption of strategic initiatives across the organization. In this capacity, the Senior Manager will lead cross-functional project management for all Retail Store renovation and revitalization projects. Responsibilities include managing projects through all phases, creating detailed project work plans, charters, critical paths, and schedules, and ensuring that all deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and within scope. The role also involves preparing project reports on progress, budget forecasts, risks, and results for both the organization and Executive stakeholders. Onsite leadership support during implementation is crucial, as is ensuring seamless operational integration with existing and new store processes. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for conducting post-project evaluations to enhance future project delivery, providing guidance and leadership for Futures-led strategic initiatives, and onboarding and training Project Managers within the Futures team. This position requires liaising with key stakeholders to develop and execute training strategies prior to roll-outs, as well as managing communication strategies to support future growth projects. The Senior Manager will need to stay current with departmental needs across Retail, Product, Marketing, and Strategic Functions to effectively develop and direct project plans. Continuous improvement of process methods and best practices to support business objectives is expected, along with building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external partners. Finally, the Senior Manager will lead, motivate, and retain a high-performing team capable of delivering results.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the cross-functional project management for all Retail Store renovation and revitalization projects.
  • Manage projects from ideation to implementation through post-project performance tracking while applying project management methodologies, standards and practices.
  • Create all project work plans, project charters, critical paths, and schedules for all Retail Store capital projects impacting store, store support and distribution centres.
  • Drive accountability and progress of business teams to ensure key deliverables are completed on time, on budget, and within scope.
  • Lead project and coordination meetings with applicable business teams.
  • Prepare all project reporting on progress, budget forecast, risks, and results to the organization and Executive stakeholders.
  • Provide onsite leadership support during implementation.
  • Ensure seamless operational integration with existing and/or new store processes.
  • Complete post-project evaluation and analysis to improve future project delivery.
  • Provide project management guidance, leadership and counsel for Futures led strategic initiatives.
  • Onboard and train Futures team Project Managers as required.
  • Lead cross-functional project management for Futures led strategic initiatives, as required.
  • Support cross-functional strategic growth initiatives and associated organizational change.
  • Liaise and coordinate with key stakeholders to create and execute applicable training prior to roll-outs and re-training as needed.
  • Manage the development and execution of communication strategies to support future growth projects in partnership with applicable Stakeholders.
  • Post-project tracking and reporting of project results and key performance indicators.
  • Understand and stay current with Retail, Product, Marketing, and Strategic Functions departmental needs to effectively develop and direct the implementation of project plans.
  • Provide insight on project management best practices to generate execution from cross-functional team to deliver project goals.
  • Work under the direction of DVP, Futures, Project and Change on ad hoc requests.
  • Continually improve process methods and best practices to support business objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Lead, motivate, and retain a team of high performing employees capable of delivering results.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • PMP designation an asset.
  • Strong project management skills, including demonstrated ability to think end-to-end and manage multiple priorities/projects simultaneously.
  • 7-10 years of post-university project management work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in retail operations.
  • 5+ years in a supervisory or management role within a retail store business.
  • Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills with the ability to get things done.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player with ability to also work independently effectively.
  • Confident and effective communication (written & verbal).
  • Adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity and change.
  • Highly service-oriented with exceptional organizational and follow up skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and work effectively in a team based consensus driven environment.
