About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager for Global Payroll Operations and Compensation Accounting to join our finance team in Redwood City, CA. This pivotal role reports directly to the Assistant Controller and is integral to the daily operations of the accounting department. The Senior Manager will oversee the global payroll processes, ensuring that all payrolls are processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with relevant regulations. This includes managing the payroll team in processing multi-country payroll, handling new hires, terminations, stock income, fringe benefits, bonuses, and more. In addition to payroll processing, the Senior Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with payroll tax regulations and overseeing year-end payroll tax reporting. This role requires a thorough review and approval of all payroll-related activities, as well as collaboration with Internal Audit to ensure adherence to SOX and audit procedures. The Senior Manager will also play a key role in developing, implementing, and maintaining payroll policies and procedures, while providing exceptional customer service to employees. The position also involves preparing and reviewing journal entries and reconciliations for month-end close, as well as undertaking other related duties or ad hoc projects as assigned. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, particularly in relation to payroll operations, and will be a proactive problem solver with a focus on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews global payroll ensuring accurate, timely and compliant processing, delivery, and reconciliation of all payrolls.
  • Leads Payroll team in processing multi-country payroll, including processing new hires, terminations, stock income, fringe benefits, bonuses, etc.
  • Oversees and ensures compliance in payroll tax and regulatory reporting, and year-end payroll tax reporting.
  • Reviews and performs all necessary approvals and controls.
  • Partners with Internal Audit ensuring payroll meets all SOX and audit procedures are met.
  • Manages the development, implementation, and maintenance of all payroll policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ensures high value customer service to employees.
  • Responsible for understanding and calculating Company's Internally Developed Software in accordance with Company policy.
  • Prepares and reviews journal entries and reconciliations for month-end close.
  • Performs other related duties or ad hoc projects as assigned or directed.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Detail oriented, analytical, and accurate
  • Proficient computer skills specifically Excel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to independently prioritize workload based on organizational needs/demands
  • Creative problem solver who anticipates risks and opportunities and maintains a vision for continuous improvement
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills for working with all levels of the organization.
