About the position

As a Senior Manager in Government Affairs and Public Policy at Google Cloud, you will be part of a diverse global team focused on navigating complex public policy issues that intersect with technology and business. This role involves leading strategic policy campaigns, collaborating with various stakeholders, and advocating for Google’s interests while ensuring responsible engagement with government and civil society. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of technology use and development, particularly in the cloud sector.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead global strategic policy initiatives to advance business priorities for Cloud GAPP.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with regional Cloud GAPP, other GAPP teams and Cloud Legal on product, compliance, regulatory, and legal initiatives that require product, compliance, and regulatory expertise and engagement with the primary goal of promoting Google Cloud adoption in key jurisdictions.
  • Engage with officials on strategic agreements, challenging new certification standards and upcoming legislation impacting our business strategy.
  • Provide strategic policy advice to Cloud leadership to inform our product and business strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 14 years of experience working on policy issues for companies or within government, think tanks, public interest groups or relevant industry associations.
  • Experience running campaigns either in the political or corporate environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working on public policy issues in the technology industry as an advisor and partner to business teams in product development, go-to-market, and other business areas.
  • Experience in policy and political issues relating to technical infrastructure (e.g., data centers), IaaS products, PaaS products, and SaaS products.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, and executing cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to identify and understand key technical aspects pertaining to corporate operations in legislative and regulatory proposals, and understand and communicate business and policy implications to internal and external stakeholders.
