About the position

The Senior Manager - HR Partner at United Airlines is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support to Airport Operations at IAH airport. This role involves collaborating with business partners and HR leadership to implement HR strategies, manage employee relations, and ensure compliance with employment laws. The position requires strong leadership skills to guide a team of HR Business Partners and to foster partnerships with management and union leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide HR leadership, consultation, and support to Airport Operations.
  • Lead a team of HR Business Partners.
  • Support business/HR related decisions, including forecasting and staff planning.
  • Collaborate with HR Leadership and Business Partners to implement HR strategies for the region.
  • Act as a liaison between management, legal, and corporate regarding employment compliance issues.
  • Partner with business leadership on workforce planning, organizational development, and employee relations.
  • Establish and maintain strong business partnerships with leadership and employees.
  • Manage day-to-day Human Resources functions.
  • Provide strategy and counsel on projects related to operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with management regarding HR strategies and practices.
  • Build relationships with regional Union and employee leadership to resolve disputes.
  • Counsel employees on personal and policy matters.
  • Coordinate with HR Total Rewards and Labor Relations professionals.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to regional management on corporate guidelines and policies.
  • Oversee the Performance Management process for management and administrative employees.
  • Manage recognition programs across the division.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local employment laws.
  • Conduct internal investigations and recommend resolutions.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of HR generalist experience with emphasis on business partnerships and employee advocacy.
  • 2 years of Project/Program Management experience.
  • 2 years of Management/Leadership experience.
  • Strong employee relations experience.
  • Generalist background with knowledge of Employee Relations, Labor Relations, and Conflict Resolution.
  • Familiarity with Company policies and guidelines.
  • Solid knowledge of FMLA, EEO laws, ADA, and other employment-related laws.
  • Understanding of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with complex issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • PHR, SHRM or related certification.
