About the position

Under the leadership of the Sr Director HR, Operations US/Can T&H and LATAM, the Senior Human Resources Manager will be responsible for leading all aspects of the human resources function at the Indianapolis site for approximately 300 employees and 1 direct report. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the HR strategies align with the overall business objectives and that the workforce is effectively managed and developed. The Senior HR Manager will coach and advise leaders to improve performance, manage the People and Capability Review process, and partner with leadership to drive the Ingredion Performance System (IPS) People Pillar at the Indianapolis site. The Senior HR Manager will support the implementation of effective HR processes in alignment with the IPS Management System through lean processes such as hiring, onboarding, training, overtime management, absenteeism, development plans, and performance management. Building and maintaining effective relationships with union representatives is crucial, including the maintenance of the grievance process for the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The role also involves interpreting and applying HR policies, ensuring consistent application while balancing business and employee needs. In addition, the Senior HR Manager will manage staffing activities, ensuring the recruitment of high-quality talent, communicate and administer benefits and compensation programs, and partner with plant leadership in designing organization structures that support strategic goals. The position requires preparing and analyzing various reporting metrics, managing the new hire orientation program, and overseeing technical/job skill training of plant employees. The Senior HR Manager will also act as a subject matter expert during the termination process and conduct exit interviews. This role includes developing and managing the department budget and acting as the Site Leader for the plant's Business Resource Groups. Overall, the Senior HR Manager plays a critical role in fostering a positive work environment, enhancing employee engagement, and driving organizational effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and advise leaders to improve performance.
  • Manage Ingredion's People and Capability Review process to identify and develop talent pipelines for key roles.
  • Partner with leadership to develop and drive the Ingredion Performance System (IPS) People Pillar at the Indianapolis site.
  • Support the implementation of effective HR Processes in alignment with the IPS Management System through lean processes such as hiring, onboarding, training, overtime, absenteeism, development plans, and performance management.
  • Build and maintain effective, productive relationships with union representatives, including maintenance of the grievance process for the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Interpret and apply HR policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring consistent application while providing solutions that balance business and employee needs.
  • Manage the Indianapolis site collective bargaining agreements ensuring all aspects of the agreement are followed.
  • Direct and coordinate all staffing activities, ensuring the recruitment of high-quality talent capable of supporting the short and long-term needs of the business.
  • Communicate and administer benefits and compensation programs consistent with plan design and provisions.
  • Partner with plant leadership in designing organization structures, business processes, and systems that are value-added and support the strategic goals of the plant and the company.
  • Prepare and analyze various reporting metrics such as turnover statistics, headcount, absenteeism levels, salary/wage administration, etc.
  • Manage new hire orientation program for the purpose of successful transitioning new hires into the organization.
  • Partner with training team to oversee technical/job skill training of plant employees including development and delivery of job-specific training to achieve competency requirements.
  • Partner with the safety team to align with employee leaves of absence, safety investigations, and security needs as necessary.
  • Act as subject matter expert during the termination process ensuring that departing employees are treated fairly and equitably.
  • Conduct exit interviews with staff as they leave the organization.
  • Develop and manage the department budget.
  • Act as the Site Leader for the plant's Business Resource Groups.

Requirements

  • High ability to negotiate, influence and inspire others.
  • Ability to coach and give developmental feedback to all levels of employees and leaders.
  • Extensive experience improving the culture and performance of organizations.
  • Extensive knowledge of information technology, including software technology used in the HR function (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Workday, UKG).
  • Critical thinking along with data analytical abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing human resources in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources, or another related field.
  • Ability to work independently at a manufacturing site, using independent judgment, and able to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience providing guidance to management staff in Collective Bargaining Agreement interpretation.
  • Experience supervising human resources professionals and creating effective development activities for salaried direct reports.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
