About the position

Rocket Lab is a global leader in launch and space systems, known for its innovative rockets and satellites that support critical space missions. The Senior Manager of Inventory and Logistics will play a pivotal role in the Supply Chain team, which is responsible for the flow of materials, products, and components essential for the success of Rocket Lab's rocket and satellite programs. This position is based at Rocket Lab's new facility in Middle River, Maryland, and involves leading a team focused on inventory controls and daily execution activities related to expediting, receiving, storage, picking, packing, and local dispatch. The Senior Manager will work closely with team members to ensure high service levels for both internal and external customers, maintain order fulfillment, and ensure inventory accuracy while adhering to standard operating procedures. In this role, the Senior Manager will direct a team responsible for various aspects of inventory management, including material handling and shipping and receiving. They will be accountable for inventory controls, perpetual inventory reporting, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials from inventory to production. The manager will also implement systems and processes for effective inventory management, including bar-coding and bin locations, and oversee the inventory planning and kitting process to ensure materials are delivered line-side to production cells. Additionally, the Senior Manager will ensure that shipping and receiving processes support the procure-to-pay process and that receiving inspections are conducted to verify that parts meet specifications. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in supply chain management, particularly in inventory control and logistics, and will be expected to lead their team with a hands-on approach, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability. This position is critical to the overall success of Rocket Lab's operations, as the Supply Chain team is integral to linking various teams and ensuring that all materials and products meet the high standards required for successful space missions.

Responsibilities

  • Direct a team responsible for inventory management, material handling, and shipping and receiving.
  • Accountable for inventory controls and perpetual inventory reporting.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of material from inventory to production.
  • Implement systems and processes for bar-coding and bin locations for inventory management.
  • Oversee inventory planning and kitting processes to deliver materials line-side to production cells.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy and that cycle counts meet Finance requirements.
  • Establish and maintain shipping and receiving processes that support the procure-to-pay process.
  • Conduct receiving inspections to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Perform additional duties as reasonably required.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and 10+ years of experience in supply chain management.
  • 5+ years of related experience in leadership within supply chain.
  • Proven ability to manage inventory teams effectively.
  • Experience in implementing systems and tools for material management.
  • Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems, and possess strong math and statistics skills.
