About the position

The Senior Manager, IT Special Project Management at Domtar is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of multiple concurrent IT special projects, including mergers and acquisitions. This role involves coordinating various IT functions and managing project managers to ensure effective project outcomes through disciplined project management processes and collaboration with business partners.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a high-performing team of ad-hoc Project Managers, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
• Coordinate the activities of different project teams working toward a common purpose.
• Support Project Managers in planning and structuring projects, consulting on project management tools.
• Create and maintain integrated schedules for projects, track program interdependencies, and present project status.
• Establish and ensure execution of project execution plans.
• Oversee project delivery, ensuring projects meet quality standards, deliverables, timelines, and budgets while addressing risks proactively.
• Administer and manage budgets for executing various IT special and M&A projects, ensuring each project meets its budget.
• Perform resource capacity analysis to ensure project resources are applied efficiently and effectively.
• Draft and present status updates using effective verbal and written communication.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project performance and prepare regular reports for leadership.
• Collaborate with Project Governance to improve project management methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Assist in identifying and communicating business process changes and impacts to the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
• PMP certification and/or training.
• 15 years of hands-on experience across various IT domains with a deep understanding of infrastructure, applications, security, and other critical aspects.
• 10+ years of experience in IT Project Management including end-to-end experience for medium-to-large projects and programs, with progressive leadership responsibilities.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of Project Management tools.
