About the position

The Senior Manager, Locomotive Reliability is responsible for overseeing the locomotive fleet strategy, focusing on data analysis and performance to enhance reliability and efficiency. This role involves designing maintenance actions, managing fleet health, and collaborating with various teams to improve fleet performance. The position requires leadership in continuous improvement initiatives and effective communication with executives and OEMs.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the re-engineering of locomotive mechanical and electrical performance based on data analysis and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Oversee identification of mechanical locomotive failures to increase reliability and improve repair and maintenance processes.
  • Perform cost analysis to maintain corrective actions within the operational budget.
  • Control equipment review to identify methodologies that improve maintenance and cycle.
  • Handle statistical analysis using tools to analyze data from the SAP database for process improvements.
  • Assist the shop leadership team in implementing and sustaining improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and oversee staff's weekly and monthly performance summaries.
  • Advance strategic plans to optimize shop assets including work scopes.
  • Drive reconciliation of reliability guarantees with OEMs.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure internal requirements and specifications are maintained.
  • Lead the Reliability Control Committee (RCC) and present action plans to executives.
  • Ensure ROI for all proposed projects during RCC presentations.
  • Build business plans and drive them through the AFE process.
  • Plan long-term CAPEX and OPEX for the locomotive fleet to improve reliability and safety.
  • Organize long-term planning to align equipment strategy with corporate goals.
  • Assist P&SM with OEM technical discussions to ensure timely completion of SoWs.
  • Develop documentation of critical problem statements for VPs and communicate findings to the team.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of related industry experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of middle management experience.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with locomotive OEM equipment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or any other Engineering field.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
