About the position

The Senior Manager of Logistics Compliance - Americas is responsible for leading and executing compliance with customs and regulations related to logistics for medical devices in the Americas region. This role involves developing and managing trade compliance policies, supervising import/export transactions, and ensuring adherence to government regulations while driving process improvements and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage trade compliance policies and procedures for import and export operations.
  • Supervise import/export transactions and documentation to facilitate smooth cross-border goods flow.
  • Manage and mentor compliance personnel, including hiring and performance management.
  • Provide guidance on customs compliance matters to internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Oversee daily import/export shipment clearance operations and manage broker performance.
  • Ensure compliance with trade regulations, duty suspension, and customs procedures.
  • Monitor data integrity related to tariff classification and regulatory information.
  • Submit and monitor import/export permits and customs rulings as needed.
  • Troubleshoot customs documentation issues and resolve border crossing problems.
  • Develop and implement audit programs for shipping documents and customs declarations.
  • Supervise audits related to customs declarations and logistics service providers.
  • Monitor forwarders and customs brokers for adherence to compliance metrics.
  • Monitor export shipments for compliance with regulations and restrictions.
  • Assist in maintaining logistics compliance manuals and training programs.
  • Conduct internal risk assessments and follow up on compliance improvement plans.
  • Participate in new product development to ensure trade compliance requirements are met.
  • Research customs requirements for medical device products and develop process maps.
  • Evaluate IT solutions to improve trade compliance practices.
  • Monitor customs legislation and align business processes accordingly.
  • Create action plans to address non-compliance issues.
  • Manage broker selection and onboarding processes.
  • Report on regional logistics compliance to senior management.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of trade compliance principles and customs regulations.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience managing high-performing teams.
  • Experience in leading logistics compliance programs.
  • Strong statistical and change management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional organization and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with databases and global trade automation solutions.
  • Licensed Customs Broker or similar professional trade certifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of medical device import/export processes.
  • Experience with Global Trade Management Software.
  • Familiarity with Agile and SAP or equivalent ERP systems.
  • Six-Sigma or CPIM certification preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
