About the position

The Senior Manager - Logistics at Raytheon is responsible for overseeing a team of logistics operators and support staff to ensure efficient operations in support of the Massachusetts Engineering Sites and Portsmouth factory. This leadership role focuses on safety, compliance, performance metrics, and financial results, while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. The position requires collaboration with various cross-functional teams to meet organizational goals and objectives, with a travel requirement of up to 20%.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize the logistics team responsible for dock-to-stock material flow.
  • Conduct workforce planning and forecasting.
  • Oversee employee hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with leaders to formulate material, production, and logistics plans.
  • Ensure accuracy and velocity of material positions through interaction with front line leaders.
  • Enforce company policies and ensure compliance with regulations and internal audits.
  • Plan and organize material movements to meet quality and cost requirements.
  • Evaluate metrics affecting material flow processes.
  • Optimize area layout and material flow.
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Control overhead expenses and identify capital needs.
  • Achieve cost, quality, and delivery goals while implementing improvement opportunities.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a university degree or equivalent experience and 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree and 7 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in logistics, supply chain, or equivalent IT/system in SAP/Oracle or other logistics execution and warehouse logistics.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with logistics execution in an Enterprise Resource Planning system such as SAP/Oracle.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
  • Solid team management or leadership experience including goal setting and conflict management.
  • ASCM CLTD/CSCP or equivalent certification (must achieve within first 12 months).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Logistics experience in the aerospace/defense industry.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, Word).
