About the position

As the Senior Manager of Logistics at Caterpillar Inc., you will lead the Aftermarket Parts Distribution Center in Arvin, California. This role is pivotal in ensuring safety, employee engagement, quality, and operational efficiency while meeting customer needs and financial benchmarks. You will be responsible for overseeing distribution operations, managing performance metrics, and fostering collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and grow a Safety Focused culture and work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with security and operational requirements.
  • Lead day-to-day operations with the management team.
  • Manage policies and programs to improve competitive position and profitability.
  • Oversee distribution operation processes including receiving, storage, order filling, packing, shipping, and quality control.
  • Develop and implement operational changes to improve performance.
  • Prepare budgets, objectives, and various reports.
  • Build collaborative relationships with dealers, suppliers, contractors, and internal customers.
  • Manage employee-related activities including recruitment, development, and training.
  • Maintain site property and oversee maintenance and janitorial services.
  • Purchase and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Develop and review operational procedures and quality plans.

Requirements

  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects.
  • Warehouse Management: Knowledge of warehouse management policies, processes, and systems; ability to manage distribution centers effectively.
  • Distribution Center Management: Knowledge of distribution processes and ability to manage inventory receipt, storage, and distribution.
  • Inventory Management: Knowledge of inventory management processes and ability to coordinate daily work across locations.
  • Logistics Management: Knowledge of logistics processes and ability to manage the movement of goods and materials effectively.
  • Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of supply chain functions and ability to develop and implement strategies for controlling processes.

  • Previous experience leading and managing direct reports.
  • Experience interpreting and analyzing financial and operating statements.
