About the position

The Senior Manager - Loyalty Strategy & Advanced Analytics at United Airlines is responsible for leading advanced analytics initiatives that drive revenue growth, improve operational efficiencies, and enhance customer experiences within the Loyalty team. This role involves managing both internal and external teams to develop and implement analytical projects that leverage big data and statistical techniques to solve critical business problems. The position requires strong strategic thinking and data-driven decision-making to achieve business outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development and implementation of projects applying advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to solve business problems.
  • Engage with partner organizations to identify business value and drive consensus around project scope and delivery timelines.
  • Manage a team that designs and implements mathematical models to locate opportunities and deliver value.
  • Train, develop, and mentor analysts across the analytics team.
  • Be accountable for project deliverables, balancing scope, time, and quality while leading status meetings and communicating with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Statistics, Engineering, Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, with at least one year in a project leading role.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience analyzing complex, high-volume data to identify patterns and relationships.
  • Ability to influence business strategy and maintain a pipeline of potential engagements.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful analytical strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful in finding solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S., Ph.D. or equivalent in a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of experience in quantitative and analytical fields.
  • Familiarity with Big Data ecosystems and database querying languages (SQL, Python, etc.).
  • Knowledge of optimization modeling, statistical modeling, or ML/AI.
  • Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau; Spotfire experience preferred.
  • At least one year in a supervisory role.
  • 3+ years of travel or loyalty business experience.
