About the position

The Senior Manager of Labor Relations (LR/HR) at OFS will play a pivotal role as the lead Human Resource business partner within a unionized manufacturing facility located in Norcross, Georgia. This position is integral to the strategic and operational HR initiatives that encompass employee and labor relations, recruitment, training, performance management, and employee development. The incumbent will report directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer and will actively participate in corporate HR initiatives, ensuring alignment with the company's mission to provide leading optical innovations and solutions. In this role, the Senior Manager will be responsible for consulting with the plant general manager and staff on various HR matters. Key responsibilities include talent identification, placement, and development, as well as implementing performance management and retention strategies. The incumbent will also focus on fostering positive employee relations and effective communication within the workforce. Training and development initiatives will be a priority, alongside succession management to ensure a robust pipeline of talent. A significant aspect of this position involves labor relations, where the Senior Manager will provide critical input on economic and wage data in preparation for negotiations. The role requires expertise in negotiating and drafting labor agreements, interpreting and administering contracts related to wages, pensions, grievances, and healthcare. The incumbent will work closely with local union representatives, addressing grievances at the local level and resolving labor issues without disrupting manufacturing operations. Additionally, the Senior Manager will coordinate and lead labor contract negotiations for the facility and support National Table Bargaining efforts, acting as a liaison between plant management and union leadership to resolve issues related to labor agreements and established work rules.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead Human Resource business partner in a unionized manufacturing facility.

  • Coordinate and lead labor contract negotiations activities for the facility.
  • Serve as a liaison between plant management and union leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Labor Relations, or a related field.
  • Advanced Degree, MBA is a plus.
  • SPHR, SHRM, or related human resource certification.
  • 7-10 years of experience in human resource/labor relations in a union environment.
  • Previous active participation in contract negotiations, including acting as Chair or Co-Chair through resolution of the negotiating process.
  • Extensive knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws pertaining to employment and labor.
  • Exceptional employee relations skills with extensive experience resolving issues.
  • Demonstrated delivery of results in customer and employee satisfaction, HR process improvement, and maintaining positive employee relations.
  • Strong teaming skills, project management, and influence skills are essential for cross-organizational coordination.
  • Reliable, dependable, and extremely trustworthy.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer skills, and coaching skills.
