The Senior Manager - M of E Production Planning is a pivotal role within the Maintenance of Equipment department at the Long Island Rail Road. This position is responsible for developing and updating the material requirements necessary to support all rolling stock maintenance programs, including Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), running repairs, projects, modifications, and initiatives for both new and existing fleets, as well as all Rolling Stock Support Equipment. The Senior Manager will oversee replenishment levels for materials valued in excess of $150 million, ensuring that all commodities are ordered in a timely manner and that proper charge out of material is promoted. In this role, the Senior Manager will organize, plan, and manage the activities of the Production Planning group. This includes the development and updating of the annual RCM production plan, initial processing of long lead items, and updating Quality Performance Agreements (QPAs) and Bills of Materials (BOMs). The position requires managing and reporting on activities related to monitoring replenishment levels, evaluating current needs, projected growth, decommissioning, and RCM initiatives and projects. The Senior Manager will also coordinate the part number creation process with fleet engineering, ensuring that ordering descriptions are accurate and that duplicate commodities are consolidated. Additionally, the Senior Manager will liaise with Procurement on all MTA Board package reviews, QPL processing, and replenishment requisitions exceeding $25,000. The role involves assessing and confirming if aging material or stock related to decommissioned equipment can be scrapped or marked obsolete. The Senior Manager will also coordinate with the department budget group on budgetary exposures associated with decommissioning and oversee all audits related to Production Planning and replenishment levels. The position requires selecting, developing, and motivating personnel within the department, providing career development for subordinates, and promoting safe work practices. The Senior Manager will review direct reports and approve performance appraisals, creating a professional environment that respects individual differences and enables all employees to develop and contribute to their full potential.
