About the position

As a Senior Manager of Machine Learning Science at Expedia Group, you will lead a team focused on developing scalable and robust machine learning solutions that optimize pricing and monetization strategies. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive impactful business outcomes through advanced data science techniques and machine learning methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of Machine Learning Scientists to deliver scalable and robust machine learning and data science solutions to pricing and monetization.
• Architect solutions, review models, and provide necessary technical guidance.
• Dissect business problems into digestible solutions.
• Follow company strategic directions and align with stakeholders on goals and roadmaps.
• Set the team vision, design roadmap, and manage execution to deliver outstanding results.
• Hire, mentor, and grow the team.
• Collaborate with other machine learning, data science, and data engineering teams to build a great data culture in EG.

Requirements

• 7+ years industry experience and an advanced degree in a quantitative field, such as Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, or equivalent quantitative fields.
• 4+ years of management experience in developing machine learning models at scale from inception to business impact.
• Demonstrated ability to create and drive technical and impactful roadmaps for the business and lead seamless execution of it.
• Passion for management and creating opportunities for career growth for team members.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to cross-functional partners of varying technical levels.
• Understanding of modern machine learning and data science techniques and their mathematical underpinning.
• Proficiency in one of the tools such as Python, R, Scala, etc.
• Experience with big data ecosystem (Hadoop/Spark).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in pricing is a plus.
• Experience with large scale marketplace experiment design and analysis is a plus.
