About the position

As the Senior Manager of Manufacturing Engineering at Caterpillar Inc., you will oversee the development, support, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes across major functions or multiple facilities. This role is pivotal in driving transformational projects aimed at enhancing efficiency, cost-effectiveness, quality, and safety within the Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD). You will collaborate with various teams to implement innovative solutions that align with the company's commitment to building a better world.

Responsibilities

  • Drive transformational projects in key Wear Components facilities to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, quality, and safety.
  • Manage capital spend forecasting and governance.
  • Leverage expertise across the company to identify and execute replication opportunities.
  • Lead a team of experts in automation, autonomous vehicles, vision inspection equipment, and manufacturing engineering to deliver targeted transformational projects.
  • Work directly with Operations Managers to provide manufacturing expertise in planning, documentation, implementation, support, and maintenance of manufacturing processes, procedures, machinery, and tooling.
  • Drive process changes leveraging research and process performance data to identify and implement improvements in yield, runtime, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of major functional processes and associated operating requirements; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Experience in leading discussions on the evolution and impact of technology, present and future.
  • Ability to monitor industry trends, key players, and major competitors; develop strategies accordingly.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborative techniques and engendering collaborative processes that lead to problem solving and achievement of business goals.
  • Knowledge of evolving the business to remain competitive; ability to understand and adapt to changes in the business environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Lean and/or 6 Sigma Black Belt Certification/Experience.
  • Experience leading global teams to drive substantial process and cultural changes.
  • Previous metallurgical or foundry related experience.
