About the position

The Senior Manager Manufacturing Operations at Caterpillar Inc. is responsible for overseeing and directing daily plant operations within the Electric Power Division. This role focuses on ensuring the production of cost-effective, high-quality products in a safe working environment while managing various aspects of manufacturing, quality, engineering, safety, and regulatory compliance. The position requires collaboration with support organizations and involves leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all aspects of manufacturing for the plant to produce cost-effective, timely, and high-quality products in a safe working environment.
  • Manage development, implementation, and continual improvement of operating methods, equipment, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Direct the development of production work schedules to meet internal goals and customer expectations.
  • Monitor process and personnel performance of scheduled work activities to remove operating impediments and achieve established goals.
  • Inspire, motivate, and develop the operations team.
  • Set directions for the facility using insights and safety performance.
  • Ensure production scheduling can be met in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Partner with support organizations such as Medical, Business Resources, Environment, Health & Safety, Human Resources, Design Engineering, and Supply Chain.
  • Lead annual business planning and execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement processes and eliminate roadblocks.
  • Develop detailed short-term and long-term production plans.
  • Communicate facility results and strategy to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Previous manufacturing experience, including leadership in a design to order environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of budgeting processes and ability to apply policies for planning and administering a budget.
  • Extensive knowledge of quality management methods and ability to create an environment that meets quality goals.
  • Expert knowledge of planning and organizing tasks and resources effectively.
  • Expert knowledge of manufacturing operations and ability to manage day-to-day operations of a manufacturing facility.
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing safety and ability to identify work-related hazards.
  • Extensive knowledge of organizational standards, procedures, and policies in manufacturing activities.
