About the position

The Senior Manager, Marketing Communications and Copywriting is responsible for enhancing Harbor Freight's brand and reputation through strategic marketing communication initiatives. This role involves developing and implementing communication strategies that align with the company's core principles, managing public relations efforts, and ensuring consistency in messaging across various platforms. The Senior Manager will also oversee the Copywriting and Public Relations staff, guiding content development across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

  • Address the Marketing department's content and copy needs to support various marketing activities.
  • Build and maintain positive professional relationships with media members.
  • Act as a company spokesperson and respond to media inquiries promptly.
  • Define the voice of Harbor Freight and ensure all communications reflect that voice.
  • Create and manage copywriting standards and a communications style guide.
  • Coordinate media requests for product and identify media outlets for product reviews.
  • Define content strategy for the Corporate Newsroom and review press releases as needed.
  • Assist Marketing leadership in developing presentations and corporate messages.
  • Stay current on competitive communication strategies to keep Harbor Freight's messaging relevant.
  • Monitor earned media coverage and measure effectiveness of communication strategies.
  • Develop communication strategies that support corporate communication and drive associate engagement.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to content development resources across Harbor Freight.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or a similar field.
  • Minimum 7 years in a communications role, preferably in public relations or brand messaging.
  • Ability to develop and execute impactful communication strategies.
  • Strong understanding of retail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior creativity and innovative thinking skills.
  • Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
