About the position

As a Senior Manager in the National Tax Accounting Group (NTAG) at Deloitte, you will play a pivotal role in leading engagement teams and managing tax accounting services for non-attest clients. Your responsibilities will include overseeing tax accounting projects, ensuring the delivery of accurate income tax provision calculations, and collaborating closely with Partners and Managing Directors to enhance the ASC 740 skills of your team. You will be instrumental in driving innovation within the tax department, expanding service offerings, and building the Deloitte brand through your expertise in income taxation. In this role, you will actively participate in marketplace activities, including recruiting and process innovation, while managing and growing a diverse portfolio of clients. Your reputation as a subject matter expert in income taxation will be crucial as you assist clients with their financial reporting of income taxes, including tax provision assistance and consulting on strategic transactions such as acquisition accounting and carve-out financial statements. The NTAG operates within Deloitte's National Federal Tax Services (NFTS) practice, which is known for its entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to delivering results through innovative tax solutions. You will also be expected to mentor and guide junior colleagues, fostering their professional development and enhancing the overall capabilities of the team. This position requires a hybrid work model, necessitating in-person collaboration 2-3 days per week, and involves travel of approximately 25% based on client needs and industry sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engagement teams and manage tax accounting services for non-attest clients.
  • Oversee tax accounting projects and ensure accurate income tax provision calculations.
  • Collaborate with Partners and Managing Directors to enhance team skills in ASC 740.
  • Drive innovation and expand service offerings within the tax department.
  • Manage and grow a diverse portfolio of clients, establishing a reputation as a subject matter expert.
  • Participate in marketplace activities, including recruiting and process innovation.
  • Mentor and guide junior colleagues in their professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience with income taxes in accordance with ASC 740 and/or IFRS.
  • Background in tax compliance and accounting for income tax with a broad understanding of US income taxation.
  • Experience with ONESOURCE Tax Provision (OTP) or similar provision software.
  • Professional services or comparable tax organization experience.
  • Proven management experience with strong organizational skills.
  • Active accreditation such as CPA, licensed attorney, Enrolled Agent, PMP, CFA, or Professional Engineer.
  • Ability to travel 25% on average based on client needs.
