About the position

As a Senior Manager in Network Reliability Engineering at Pfizer, you will be pivotal in ensuring network service availability and minimizing disruptions. This role emphasizes transforming traditional network management into a proactive, data-driven strategy, enhancing user experience and operational efficiency. You will lead technical efforts during major incidents, collaborate with various teams to optimize processes, and drive continuous improvements in network reliability and incident management.

Responsibilities

  • Embed core principles and practices of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) in the delivery of network services.
  • Assume a technical leadership role on major outages or planned events that impact network services.
  • Collaborate with the Command Center to optimize processes for managing critical incidents.
  • Lead post-mortems for major events and ensure action plans are developed and executed.
  • Continuously analyze service data to identify improvement opportunities and maintain a backlog of prioritized opportunities.
  • Drive a Predictive Operations focus to mitigate potential outages before they occur.
  • Work closely with vendors and service providers to drive continuous service improvements.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring artifacts for proactive service monitoring.
  • Partner with Command Center to integrate monitoring artifacts into daily operations.
  • Develop dashboards and reports for actionable insights into network performance.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners for Network products to evaluate automation and improvement opportunities.
  • Champion the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to improve operational efficiency.
  • Drive automation of operational tasks to reduce manual effort and errors.
  • Analyze traffic patterns and network performance metrics for capacity planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in enterprise network operations settings.
  • Proficiency in networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, and others.
  • Understanding of network security principles and practices, including firewalls, VPN, IPS, and encryption.
  • Strong technical aptitudes in network technologies.
  • Exposure to Site Reliability Engineering principles and practices.
  • Keen data literacy, skilled at aggregating multiple data sources to drive insights and actions.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues effectively to business recipients.
  • Proven ability to build and improve processes and workflows.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of software development concepts and coding (python, Java).
  • Network vendor certifications (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, Arista, Riverbed).
  • Experience with network monitoring tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to influence and collaborate with peers.
