About the position

The Senior Manager of Business Operations at Emory Healthcare is responsible for overseeing the financial planning and business operations of a designated section. This role involves budget management, financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with operational policies and procedures. The manager will work closely with section leadership to develop and monitor budgets, manage financial reporting, and support grant management, while also supervising staff and enhancing operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for financial planning and business operations of the assigned Section, including budget management and accounting.
  • Develops, administers, and monitors budgets, accounts, policies, and procedures relating to operational activities.
  • Responsible for the annual operating and capital budget processes, management reporting, and support of related financial systems.
  • Ensures that awarded grants conform to defined budget parameters and projects budget needs for future funding.
  • Prepares operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies.
  • Works with section leadership to plan and develop section budget and forecasts future budget requirements.
  • Administers and monitors capital equipment, operations, and personnel budgets; reviews prior budget expenses and investigates variances.
  • Makes budget recommendations to section leaders and collaborates with the clinic Finance department.
  • Uses organizational financial accounting systems to balance accounts and resolve problems.
  • Prepares journal entries for accruals, fiscal year audit schedules, and financial reports.
  • Negotiates new and renewal service contracts with vendors to ensure compliance with organizational requirements.
  • Responsible for managing, evaluating, and improving financial and operational procedures for the assigned clinic section.
  • Provides oversight and management for financial analysis activities and data collection.
  • Participates in developing Section goals and objectives and ensures compliance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines.
  • Supervises staff, manages employee performance, and provides ongoing feedback and training.
  • Monitors and directs workflow and assists in resolving employment-related issues.
  • Projects staffing needs and assists in the hiring process for vacant positions.
  • May plan, implement, and evaluate activities or special projects to improve financial and business operations.
  • Maintains accurate accounting and statistical records for financial programs and submits reports to management.
  • Develops data collection methods and implements improvements to existing activities.
  • Advises and trains managers and staff in effective administration of financial management policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, healthcare administration, or related field required.
  • 3-5 years of professional business or management experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Minimum requirement of 2 years supervisory/manager experience.
  • Master's degree and fellowship can substitute for experience.
