About the position

The position involves leading a team within Vanguard's Global Risk and Security (GR&S) division, specifically in the Enterprise Security and Fraud (ES&F) sub-division. The role focuses on the global protection of Vanguard's crew, property, data, and client assets, ensuring a strong risk culture and the implementation of IT security standards and best practices. The leader will mentor team members, oversee incident investigations, and design cyber security procedures to mitigate risks in a dynamic security landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 10-12 security specialists, providing guidance and training to develop team members.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of IT security standards and best practices, conducting formal incident investigations and leading advanced incident handling scenarios.
  • Serve as a leader, mentor, and subject matter resource for team members, dividing and assigning workload and resolving complex ticket issues escalated by direct reports.
  • Design and implement cyber security and operations procedures, identifying process gaps and recommending solutions to improve workflow and mitigate risk.
  • Act as a security expert in application development, database design, network, and platform efforts, ensuring compliance with enterprise and IT security policies.
  • Provide security-related services within enterprise-wide processes to reduce risk, acting as a key stakeholder for IT governance teams.
  • Oversee multiple teams addressing critical security risks to the business, ensuring security risk-related issues are appropriately addressed within the IT environment.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a technical discipline, Computer Science or related field required; graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years experience in cyber security, cyber investigations, or cyber threat intelligence; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Security Operations experience required.
  • People leadership experience required.
  • Cloud security experience required (AWS required, multi-cloud preferred).
  • Experience analyzing network traffic and implementing perimeter controls required.
  • Web application experience required.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification required.
