GEICO is seeking an experienced Senior Manager with a passion for building high performance, low-latency platforms, and applications. In this role, you will build and manage a team of engineers focused on delivering enterprise-wide products that operate in a highly performant and efficient manner. You will play a crucial role in driving our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission. This position also involves co-creating a culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement within the team. As a Senior Manager, you will be an engineering leader who collaborates with the engineering staff to innovate and build new engineering solutions, improve and enhance existing solutions, and leverage engineering solutions to solve critical operational problems. You will lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap that aims to increase the velocity of product delivery and unlock new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise to enhance application performance, conduct capacity benchmarking, improve availability and reliability, and design and evolve cloud infrastructure and architecture. Your responsibilities will include working closely with your Director to address project dependencies, negotiating and estimating incremental delivery dates for milestones with stakeholders, and ensuring timely project delivery. You will also identify and raise appropriate project risks while presenting detailed and implementable solutions or alternatives. Understanding how requirements and design choices may impact systems across multiple areas will be essential. You will report on your team's progress for project and other key metrics, presenting ideas for further improvement or influence on product or project delivery. Additionally, you will initiate and support performance evaluations of team members, cultivate a motivating culture, and build relationships with your team to foster an environment of trust and accountability.
