About the position

The Senior Manager of Revenue and Technical Accounting will oversee the company's revenue recognition processes and cost accounting, ensuring compliance with GAAP and relevant accounting regulations. This role involves leading a team of accountants, collaborating with various departments, and providing expertise on complex accounting issues to support accurate financial reporting and business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the company's revenue recognition processes in accordance with ASC 606 and other applicable accounting standards.
  • Oversee the cost accounting process, ensuring costs to obtain revenue contracts are in compliance with the requirements of ASC 606 and ASC 340.
  • Review and approve complex revenue contracts, ensuring proper documentation and recognition practices.
  • Lead the assessment and implementation of technical accounting matters, such as business combinations, stock-based compensation, lease accounting, and other significant transactions.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and internal controls to support compliance with accounting standards and company practices.
  • Serve as the go-to expert on GAAP and other relevant accounting regulations, providing guidance on complex accounting issues.
  • Lead and mentor a team of revenue and technical accountants, providing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Actively assist in the completion of month-end close activities, including preparing relevant analyses/journal entries on areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial statement preparation and disclosures.
  • Collaborate with departments such as FP&A, Sales, Legal, and Operations to ensure accurate financial information and support business decisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in revenue and technical accounting or a related field.
  • Proficiency in revenue recognition and technical accounting is essential.
  • Familiarity with ASC 606 and GAAP accounting principles is required.
  • Experience with deferred revenue and revenue accounting is preferred.
  • Ability to produce and interpret technical white papers is expected.
  • Strong skills in complex financial analysis and month-end close processes are necessary.
  • Knowledge of internal control and accounting control processes is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills are required.
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; a master's degree or CPA certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software is necessary.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with deferred revenue and revenue accounting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of internal control and accounting control processes is advantageous.
