About the position

As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate and Investment Bank, you will play a pivotal leadership role in mentoring and advising multiple technical teams while driving forward financial technologies. This position presents a significant challenge with a substantial impact on the organization. Your responsibilities will include providing technical coaching and advisory support to various teams, anticipating their needs, and identifying potential dependencies with other functions within the firm. Your expertise will be crucial in influencing budgetary and technical considerations aimed at enhancing operational efficiencies and functionalities. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers who are engaged in tasks ranging from basic to moderately complex. You will deliver solutions that leverage modern technologies, including cloud-backed APIs and microservices, while utilizing distributed database technologies. Your accountability will extend to making decisions that affect the team's resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures. You will ensure successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders, identifying and mitigating issues to execute a comprehensive book of work while escalating issues as necessary. Additionally, you will provide valuable input to leadership regarding budgetary considerations, approaches, and technical strategies to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for your team. A key aspect of your role will be to foster a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect among team members, prioritizing diverse representation within the team.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers.
• Deliver solutions leveraging modern technologies including cloud backed APIs and microservices utilizing distributed database technologies.
• Be accountable for decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures.
• Ensure successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary.
• Provide input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team.
• Create a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritize diverse representation.

Requirements

• 5 years applied software engineering experience to solve complex technical problems.
• Hands-on experience using modern technologies (e.g., Java, Springboot, API, Cassandra, Caching (Hazelcast), Kafka).
• Knowledge of design patterns (e.g., microservices, APIs).
• Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals.
• Experience with developing large scale platforms with strong understanding of complex distributed systems running on hybrid infrastructure (on premises, private and private cloud environments).
• Expertise building and operating large-scale high-performance environments with distributed systems and cloud technologies (AWS, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Experience with implementing industry standard cybersecurity & technology controls.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present to and communicate effectively with key stakeholders across product, technology, data and design.

• Experience with Payments, and deriving customer insights from banking data.
• Experience building large scale public cloud systems.
