About the position

As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate and Investment Bank, you will lead multiple technical teams, providing coaching and advisory to enhance operational efficiencies and functionalities. This role requires anticipating the needs of various functions within the firm and influencing budget and technical considerations to drive financial technologies forward.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers.
• Deliver solutions leveraging modern technologies including cloud backed APIs and microservices utilizing distributed database technologies.
• Be accountable for decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures.
• Ensure successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary.
• Provide input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team.
• Create a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritize diverse representation.

Requirements

• 5+ years applied software engineering experience to solve complex technical problems.
• Hands-on experience using modern technologies (e.g., Java, Springboot, API, Cassandra, Caching (Hazelcast), Kafka).
• Knowledge of design patterns (e.g., microservices, APIs).
• Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals.
• Experience with developing large scale platforms with strong understanding of complex distributed systems running on hybrid infrastructure (on premises, private and private cloud environments).
• Expertise building and operating large-scale high-performance environments with distributed systems and cloud technologies (AWS, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Experience with implementing industry standard cybersecurity & technology controls.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present to and communicate effectively with key stakeholders across product, technology, data and design.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Payments, and deriving customer insights from banking data.
• Experience building large scale public cloud systems.
