About the position

The Senior Manager of Software Engineering for Outbound Runtime at Pegasystems is responsible for leading the Customer Decision Hub (CDH) Engine team, focusing on the development and delivery of a high-performing software application that meets the needs of large enterprises. This role emphasizes people leadership, technical delivery, and strategic oversight, ensuring the team is aligned with Pega's core values while fostering innovation and creativity. The manager will engage in recruitment, mentoring, and career development of team members, while also participating in design sessions and ensuring timely project delivery with high quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Engage and develop a high-performing team aligned with Pega's core values, fostering creativity and innovation.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate team members and provide opportunities for their individual career growth.
  • Play an active role in the end-to-end recruitment process from attracting to onboarding.
  • Actively participate in design sessions, sharing insights from your own experiences while continuing to learn and master Pega and CDH.
  • Ensure timely delivery of the team's projects, while maintaining a high standard of quality.
  • Work closely with product manager and team members on deliverables.
  • Monitor support requests from clients and incorporate improvements in product and process based on conducting RCA or similar exercises.
  • Ensure tech debt is under control and managed well.
  • Utilize your software engineering and management experience to foresee problems and challenges, and guide the team to produce the optimal deliverable.
  • Review practices, plans, and results; and provide feedback for improving in various areas, such as development, quality, testing, performance, deployment, and security.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as an engineering manager, well versed in all phases of managing individual contributors (hiring, onboarding, mentoring, continuous feedback, and talent assessment conversations).
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in software development, preferably in a product development company.
  • A Bachelor's (or advanced) degree in Computer Science or similar field.
  • Experience delivering projects at scale using an Agile methodology.
  • Developed high performing teams and nurtured a culture of excellence and understanding.
  • Experience working with technology stack: Java, RDBMS and NoSQL databases, REST services, Cloud deployments (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker).
