About the position

As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Sector's Pricing Reference Data Engineering group, you will play a pivotal leadership role in mentoring and advising multiple technical teams while advancing financial technologies. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in challenging environments and are eager to make a significant impact. Your responsibilities will include providing technical coaching and advisory support to various teams, anticipating the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm, and influencing budget and technical considerations to enhance operational efficiencies and functionalities. In this multifaceted role, you will act as a manager of software engineering, a product partner, and a scaled scrum practitioner for a critical pricing data platform. You will lead multiple teams located across the US and India, ensuring the delivery of a firm-wide Reference Data product that supports high-quality intraday and end-of-day pricing for 150 subscribing applications across all lines of business. Your leadership will guide a product engineering team of 30-35 global staff, setting overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration. You will be responsible for managing stakeholder relationships and ensuring that the team's work aligns with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements, all while keeping end-user relationships and user experience research results at the forefront. Utilizing scaled agile practices, you will oversee day-to-day implementation activities, partner with platform architects, design leads, product, and operations to set ongoing product objectives, and manage backlog, roadmap planning, and delivery execution. Your strong delivery management skills will be essential in identifying risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating and resolving them as necessary, and ensuring that all work meets software control standards, business requirements, and engineering best practices. Additionally, you will foster a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect among team members, prioritizing diverse representation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance to immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities of a product engineering team of 30-35 global staff.
  • Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration.
  • Anticipates dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications in line with business requirements.
  • Manages stakeholder relationships and the team's work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements while keeping end user relationships and user experience research results top of mind.
  • Manages using scaled agile practices and has oversight of day-to-day implementation activities.
  • Partners with platform architect, design leads, product and operations towards setting ongoing product objectives and backlog, roadmap planning and delivery execution.
  • Applies strong delivery management skills including identifying risks, issues and dependencies and escalating & resolving them.
  • Ensures all work meets software control standards, business requirements, and engineering best practices.
  • Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for the team members and prioritizes diverse representation.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5 years applied experience.
  • Experience leading technology projects.
  • Experience managing engineers, and working within scrum and/or scaled agile practices.
  • Experience delivering technology products and capabilities.
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Advanced understanding of SRE and Dev-op methodologies such as CI/CD, Chaos Testing, along with Security Controls and supporting Internal/External Audits.
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.
  • Strong written, communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Practical cloud native experience.
  • Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines.
