About the position

The Senior Manager - Operations Strategy and Analytics at United Airlines is responsible for leading a high-performing analytics team to transform data into actionable insights that enhance decision-making and operational efficiency. This role involves collaborating with various functional analytics teams to identify critical business KPIs, uncover trends, and apply analytics to drive business transformation. The position emphasizes continuous improvement and innovation in analytics methodologies, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with diverse functional analytics teams and business units to enhance decision-making by transforming data into actionable insights.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing analytics team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and data literacy.
  • Drive the integration of data-driven insights into business operations, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.
  • Optimize key areas such as reliability, planning, and execution by implementing data-driven strategies that support business objectives.
  • Complete adhoc analyses and short projects as requested by upper management, delivering quality results timely.
  • Identify and develop critical business KPIs, translating data into recommendations that drive business outcomes.
  • Promote and lead initiatives that drive continuous improvement in analytics methodologies, tools, and technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Engineering, Quantitative Field or related experience.
  • 3+ years of experience leading professional teams to build large-scale analytics models.
  • 1+ year of managerial/supervisory experience.
  • Proven ability to influence business strategy with application of analytics.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in quantitative and analytical fields (e.g. IE, OR, Statistics, ML/AI, Financial Modeling).
  • Strong analytical ability and application of analytical thinking to solve business problems.
  • Ability to analyze complex, high-volume data from various sources to highlight patterns and relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex quantitative analysis clearly and precisely.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • In-depth experience or understanding of at least one business area (Tech Ops, Airports, NP, NOC, Crew/Inflight).
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with Foundry.
  • 3+ years of airline business experience.
  • Expertise in at least one statistical analysis package in Python, R, SQL.
