About the position

The Senior Manager of Payment Systems at Scholastic is responsible for overseeing the management of payment processing solutions for Scholastic Book Fairs. This role involves planning, developing, procuring, launching, and maintaining payment solutions, including hardware, software, and services for a network of 35,000 Point of Sale Terminals and online payment systems. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to align projects with business objectives and regulatory requirements, while also acting as a subject matter expert on payment systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own Strategic Roadmap for Scholastic Book Fair's Payment Processing Solutions
  • Establish and Lead Steering Committee
  • Stay informed about advancements in payment processing
  • Create and manage RFPs and select vendors for payment processing solutions
  • Conduct Proof of Concept (PoC) and technology evaluations
  • Collaborate to develop compelling business cases for investments in payment technology solutions
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define requirements and prioritize features
  • Manage and prioritize the backlog of projects
  • Oversee project delivery for payment processing solutions
  • Collaborate to develop comprehensive user stories and functional requirements
  • Supervise development efforts and coordinate between teams
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance processes for payment systems
  • Partner with compliance teams to ensure legal and security standards are met
  • Advocate for necessary funding and manage the budget
  • Implement effective risk mitigation strategies
  • Proactively communicate project status to stakeholders
  • Oversee relationships with vendors and manage contracts
  • Collaborate with vendors to establish development goals
  • Oversee quality and incident management processes
  • Work with procurement teams on sourcing payment solutions
  • Partner with operations to manage the network of devices
  • Oversee the roadmap for online payment solutions
  • Partner to ensure seamless integration of payment processing solutions
  • Work closely with accounting and finance teams on payment processing data

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in leading complex Point of Sale (POS) systems and online payment solutions
  • Deep knowledge of Point of Sale business processes
  • Strong accounting and financial skills
  • Experience in developing and executing rollout strategies for payment systems
  • Solid understanding of integration points between POS systems and other systems
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple deliverables and projects concurrently
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated adaptability and resourcefulness in addressing challenges

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with vendor selection and management
  • Knowledge of compliance standards such as PCI DSS and EMV
  • Experience in managing large-scale POS operations
