About the position

HomeServe USA, a Brookfield Infrastructure Group portfolio company, is seeking a Senior Manager of Payroll to lead our payroll team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and managing an effective payroll team, ensuring compliance with current payroll tax laws, and overseeing all year-end payroll operations, including the issuance of W-2s and annual tax reconciliation. You will collect and organize data necessary for payroll processing, perform audits to ensure accuracy, and implement new payroll processes to enhance efficiency and controls. Collaboration with the HRIS department for payroll setup and enhancements within UKG will also be a key aspect of your responsibilities. Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining proper controls, documenting policies and procedures, and ensuring that payroll functions are performed efficiently. As a Senior Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting our Finance & Accounting Division, ensuring that payroll is accurately recorded in the accounting system and that all quarterly and annual payroll filings are completed on time. You will also participate in audits and provide data as needed, contributing to the overall success of our payroll operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage an effective payroll team.
  • Ensure compliance with current payroll tax laws.
  • Review and reconcile all tax payments processed on behalf of the company.
  • Understand, support negotiation analytics, and comply with all Union contracts.
  • Responsible for all year-end payroll operations including issuing W-2s and annual tax and payroll reconciliation.
  • Collect and organize all underlying data necessary for the calculation and processing of payroll.
  • Complete initial payroll input and review to ensure timely processing.
  • Provide timely and professional responses to employee payroll inquiries.
  • Research payroll topics, issues, and guidance to recommend changes to ensure compliance with federal and multi-state requirements.
  • Perform periodic audits to ensure all payroll details are accurate and that changes are made in a timely manner.
  • Look for opportunities to implement new payroll processes aimed at enhancing accuracy, efficiency, and controls.
  • Work across the Finance & Accounting Division to ensure payroll is properly recorded in the accounting system.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timely completion of all quarterly and annual payroll filings to employees and taxing authorities.
  • Participate in and provide data for ad hoc and annual audits.
  • Ensure proper controls are in place, policies and procedures are documented, and payroll functions are efficiently performed.
  • Collaborate with HRIS dept. for all payroll setup and enhancements within UKG.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Eight (8) years of experience processing payroll for a multi-state company.
  • Four (4) years of managerial experience.
  • Experience processing payroll through UKG.
  • Experience identifying, implementing, and executing improvements to existing payroll processes.
  • Ability to be an effective team leader and display initiative and self-direction.
  • Demonstrated success working both individually and with a team in a fast-paced, high volume, deadline oriented environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Familiarity with state and federal tax and wage laws.
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in Excel.
  • A client service temperament and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-orientation, organizational, and project management skills that ensure that accuracy, efficiency, and compliance are optimized and objectives are created and met.
