About the position

As the Senior Manager, Payroll (US & CA) at Baxter Healthcare Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the payroll strategy for the newly formed Kidney Co (Vantive). This position is crucial as the company transitions to a standalone entity, focusing on enhancing payroll system functionality and ensuring effective payroll processing for both the United States and Canada. Your responsibilities will include the development and implementation of payroll strategies that align with the organizational culture and objectives, as well as building a new team dedicated to driving these initiatives. In this role, you will lead the implementation of payroll systems and processes, ensuring they meet the needs of the organization while adhering to compliance standards. You will be responsible for integrating payroll with other key systems such as HRIS, timekeeping, benefits, and finance, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure alignment with business priorities. Your expertise will be essential in advising management on payroll issues, monitoring the effectiveness of payroll operations, and making necessary adjustments to improve efficiency and accuracy. Additionally, you will be tasked with staying abreast of industry trends and best practices, leveraging your network to bring innovative solutions to the company. You will also oversee payroll activities related to acquisitions and organizational changes, ensuring that all operations comply with relevant laws and regulations, including the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX). Your leadership will be critical in facilitating audits and maintaining accurate payroll records, ultimately contributing to the success of Kidney Co (Vantive) as it establishes itself in the market.

Responsibilities

  • Implement HR plans and strategies to support payroll strategic objectives and desired organizational culture.
  • Build a new team to drive payroll implementation efforts.
  • Develop and drive overall implementation of payroll strategies, continually assessing effectiveness.
  • Lead payroll system implementation efforts for Kidney Co (Vantive).
  • Drive partnership with HR service providers for payroll and timekeeping to ensure alignment with HRIS roadmap and business priorities.
  • Own integration between HRIS and other key systems such as timekeeping, benefits, and finance, driving the roadmap for these integrations from a payroll perspective.
  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate payroll transactions.
  • Advise management on various payroll issues and provide expertise.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of the US & Canada payroll model and team dynamics, leading realignment efforts as needed.
  • Develop an understanding of industry payroll trends and drive initiatives to implement relevant trends for the company.
  • Network with peers and leaders to bring standard methodologies to the company.
  • Partner with HR and Finance leaders to plan and implement changes to payroll and timekeeping systems and processes.
  • Lead payroll activities associated with acquisitions, divestitures, and other organizational changes.
  • Ensure operations comply with company policies and local laws, aligned with SOX, and facilitate audits.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years progressive payroll management experience required.
