The BMO Vehicle and Equipment Finance Personal Property Tax Leader is responsible for overseeing U.S. personal property tax for all BMO VEF equipment finance portfolios. This role requires a deep understanding of multistate personal property law and compliance management. The leader will ensure the timely filing of all personal property tax returns, the accuracy of all related assessments, and the prompt payment of all personal property taxes associated with BMO Vehicle & Equipment Finance. The position is primarily based out of the Milwaukee or Chicago offices, but remote talent from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, or Michigan will also be considered. In this role, the leader will foster a culture aligned with BMO's purpose, values, and strategy, serving as a role model for BMO's values and behaviors. They will act as a trusted advisor to assigned business groups, influencing and negotiating to achieve business objectives. The leader will recommend and implement solutions based on thorough analysis of issues and implications for the business, assist in the development of strategic plans, and identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making. Additionally, the leader will oversee and support the personal property tax compliance and tax return processes, manage audits, and prepare responses to queries from tax authorities. They will provide input into the planning and implementation of tax accounting, reporting, and compliance programs, and support the maintenance of the database and records management of all required filings and other tax compliance activities. The leader will also research and identify position statements on current and proposed tax-related issues, analyze data to provide taxation insights, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to collect and provide tax information for related accounting entries, tax provision, compliance, and audits. They will monitor compliance with tax policies and procedures to ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial information, and execute work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service.
