About the position

The Senior Manager, Portfolio Management will play a pivotal role in leading multiple cross-functional teams dedicated to managing clients' renewable energy assets, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, and optimizing portfolio performance. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of the commercial, contractual, regulatory, and reporting obligations associated with various renewable energy assets, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The Senior Manager will be responsible for driving task completion across teams and executing necessary actions to maintain portfolio compliance with project agreements. In this role, the Senior Manager will lead the onboarding of new portfolios and projects, facilitating collaboration among various teams to ensure a smooth transition. They will act as the quarterback for the project management team, tracking ongoing tasks and deliverables while leveraging digital platforms to enhance workflow efficiency. The Senior Manager will also review and approve performance and financial reports for operating projects, developing both standard and ad hoc reports as required. Collaboration with the Technical Asset Management team is essential, as the Senior Manager will manage contracts for Operations and Maintenance (O&M) personnel to optimize project performance. Additionally, they will coordinate with the Financial Asset Management team to support billing, revenue tracking, and other financial deliverables, demonstrating a thorough understanding of invoicing and revenue tracking processes. The Senior Manager will also track project performance and operational data, utilizing this information for analysis and reporting to create meaningful recommendations for clients. The role requires excellent relationship management skills, as the Senior Manager will interact with key stakeholders, including project owners, investors, and external parties. They will provide exceptional customer service, organize meetings, and lead discussions with clients and internal teams. Furthermore, the Senior Manager will maintain subject matter expertise in their specialty area while developing a secondary specialty, driving the creation and updating of standard operating procedures (SOPs) as necessary. As a leader, the Senior Manager will manage and mentor at least four direct reports, focusing on their professional development, compensation planning, and adherence to company policies. They will also train junior team members and delegate tasks effectively, ensuring the successful execution of monthly responsibilities. The Senior Manager will plan and develop initiatives for the larger project management team, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple cross-functional teams to support management of client's renewable energy assets.
  • Drive optimization of all portfolios and ensure effective execution of various scopes of work.
  • Understand and manage commercial, contractual, regulatory, and reporting obligations of renewable energy assets.
  • Oversee onboarding of new portfolios and projects, facilitating collaboration among teams.
  • Track and fulfill ongoing tasks and deliverables, enhancing team efficiency through digital platforms.
  • Review and approve performance and financial reports for operating projects, developing standard and ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Coordinate with Technical Asset Management and manage contracts for O&M personnel to optimize project performance.
  • Support billing and revenue tracking, invoice tracking, and other financial deliverables with the Financial Asset Management team.
  • Track project performance, weather, and operational data for analysis and reporting.
  • Manage warranty claims and document administration for project-specific documents.
  • Coordinate and submit regulatory compliance obligations with internal and external support.
  • Maintain relationships with key project stakeholders and provide excellent customer service.
  • Organize and lead meetings with clients and internal teams, ensuring effective communication.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) as needed.
  • Manage and mentor direct reports, focusing on their professional development and team goals.
  • Plan and develop initiatives for the project management team.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of team management experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in renewable energy asset management or operations.
  • Expert client management and communication skills, especially in high visibility situations.
  • Expertise in performance data analysis, project recommendations, and reporting.
  • Experience managing budgets and utilizing complex financial models.
  • Experience negotiating and managing various contracts with third-party vendors.
  • Strong documentation, presentation, and communication skills with senior management.
  • University degree (or equivalent) with 6+ years of renewable energy experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt for process improvement.
  • Deep experience with C&I and utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Proven work with renewable energy data analysis and reporting.
  • Expertise in solar PV, wind, or BESS equipment and system design.
