About the position

At Sam's Club, the Senior Manager of Product Development and Sourcing plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of pet nutrition. This position is not just about managing products; it's about leading innovation in the pet food and supplement industry. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of product development, from initial concept through to market launch, ensuring that our offerings not only meet but exceed industry standards. Your expertise will be crucial in driving advancements in our product lines, which include dry food, wet food, and treats, as well as pet supplements. In this role, you will collaborate with various teams, including brand management, global sourcing, and creative operations, to develop and enhance our product portfolio. You will also be the principal formulator, leading projects that involve recipe development and ingredient research, and managing the transition from benchtop formulations to commercial production. Your technical expertise will be essential in defining testing parameters to validate product efficacy and performance, ensuring that our products consistently meet customer expectations. As a strategic partner, you will forge strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers, enhancing product quality and introducing innovative solutions. Your problem-solving skills will be put to the test as you help resolve product issues and support quality initiatives through root cause analyses. Ultimately, your leadership will help uphold the highest levels of product integrity and customer satisfaction, making a meaningful impact in the world of pet nutrition.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of product development projects from concept to market launch.
• Lead product formulation projects in collaboration with suppliers, including recipe development and ingredient research.
• Define testing parameters to validate formulation efficacy and performance.
• Collaborate with brand management, global sourcing, and creative operations to drive new product development.
• Forge and nurture relationships with suppliers and manufacturers to elevate product quality.
• Resolve product issues and support quality through root cause analyses.
• Partner with the Quality team to address member feedback and ensure product excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business or related field.
• 4 years of experience in merchandising, replenishment, logistics, or related field, or 6 years of experience in the same fields.
• Proven track record in product development and formulation of pet food and supplements.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive strategic decisions.
• Effective team leadership skills with the ability to influence and communicate across all levels of the organization.
